Our Approach to Bird Proofing
LES Pest Management evaluate your situation and offer our clients a range of proofing solutions to protect them against the impact of Birds.
They can cause havoc, in the following ways:
Health & Safety – Feral Pigeons in urban areas are the main concern. They carry disease and parasites that can be transferred to people. Their droppings contain infectious pathogens such as EColi or Salmonella which cause awful illness.
Nesting material and feathers cause respiratory issues and can be a source of insect infestations. Finally, droppings are a slip hazard, dangerous for people walking around buildings.
The H&S of people, whether they are employees, clients, suppliers or other stakeholders need to be protected against these issues. Gulls can also be a Health & safety risk to building occupants, they can become aggressive to people during nesting season (summer months) when they are protective of their young.
Building damage – The presence of birds nesting on buildings causes structural damage. Building structures (such as wood, metal and brick/stonework) are corroded by acidic droppings. If allowed to persist over long periods this can cause a requirement for expensive structural repair work.
Property aesthetics and reputation -Bird guano and other debris looks bad and reduces the visual appeal of your property. It is unsightly and leaves a bad impression with people who visit your premises. Reputation can be damaged. The impact could be that customers are lost and employees leave.
